Biography

I worked in publishing and the law in New York and New Jersey before moving to Oregon in 1993. I enrolled in the Counseling Psychology program at Lewis and Clark College in 1994. I worked for and volunteered for various mental health agencies serving children and families. I did my internship at Garlington Center in North Portland. My course work focused on adult, adolescent, and child development and treatment. I received a master’s degree in 1996.

I have worked in public and private agencies with a diverse population. I started in private practice in 2004. I am licensed to practice in both Oregon and Washington.

From 2007-2009, I participated in professional seminars in Analytical Psychology offered by the Pacific Northwest Society of Jungian Analysts. After completing that program, I was accepted into the Jungian Analyst training program at the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich, Switzerland. I expect to finish my studies in 2013 and be certified as a Jungian Analyst.

This analytical training is personally and professionally rewarding and enriches my knowledge and intuition about unconscious processes. The evolution of psychoanalysis began with Freud and Jung and continues today with neurological support and evidence that the unconscious is active and alive in our lives. It is a force to work with and become closely aligned with while maintaining a strong ego consciousness.

C. G. Jung (1875-1961) was a psychiatrist and a pioneer in the early days of psychotherapy. His Collected Works are filled with profound insight into the psychology of humankind. His ideas, methods, and theories combine psychology, mythology, religion, ethnology, and physics to explain life and living. His work on dream interpretation is surpassed by no other. This orientation to life and work makes sense to me, and I have been interested in dreams since childhood. Dream work opens the door to fuller knowledge and a larger meaning of one’s life.
